To slow
down climate change, it is important that we look for sustainable ways to heat
our homes. The City of Ostend has the ambition to make the city centre fossil-free by
2050.
Since 2019, citizens' cooperative Beauvent has been managing a heat network in
Ostend with the residual heat from the waste processing company as its source.
So far, the customers of this heat network have been limited to large consumers
such as hospitals, city buildings, companies and apartment buildings. But we also want to use the heat network to offer a sustainable solution for
individual homes, without losing sight of vulnerable households.
To this end, the City of Ostend, together with 9 partners from Belgium, France, Ireland and the Netherlands, is investigating how we can shape a neighbourhood heat network together. We would like to discuss this with you on Tuesday 25 November at 7.30 pm in the Grote Post (Dactylozaal). Experts will tell you more about the energy transition and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Everyone welcome! We look forward to it!
