Building a financial model

insights from the partner meeting

After sharing videos and pictures on social media from the site visits and the public event hosted in Ostend last November, it's time to share some brief insights on the meetings and exchanges between the partners and stakeholders.

📌 About stakeholders

The interplay between all stakeholders – local governments, grid operators, heat suppliers and heat consumers – is key to the financial model . The partnership has mapped stakeholders in the 4 pilot cities to understand the drivers and barriers for the different stakeholder groups. One of the outputs will be a communication plan with key messages and communication channels tailored to their specific needs.

📌 About the financial model

The goal is to provide fair prices for end-users. This is a challenge because a fair price also needs to cover the real costs and investments for the developer of the heat grid. We are building a model that can be used in all four pilot cities and add specific parameters that vary per city. After this process of demonstration and validation, we will share it with other cities developing district heating networks as well!
